Make a difference in your community! As a field interviewer you will help scientists collect high quality data used to inform policy and improve the world. You will set appointments, travel to a variety of neighborhoods to screen households for eligibility, and complete interviews in study participants’ homes. To thrive in this position, you must be comfortable using a laptop, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to establish trust. There is no experience required. We will teach you everything you need to know.
The Detroit Aging and Memory Project/Social Relations Project (DAMP) will focus on the relationship between social relations, social networks, and cognition and health in two related studies that will be conducted in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The DAMP study will focus on those aged 65 and older that are of Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) ancestry. The Social Relations 2023 project will focus on those aged 35 and older. The projects will be conducted simultaneously with DAMP and will use the same survey instruments.
Here’s what we get asked most often:
- $21.00 - $23.00/hr. (this includes a $3.00/hr. screening differential)
- You can qualify for $800 in incentives in your first 6 months
- $2/hour differential for certified English/Arabic bilingual interviewers (bilingual not required)
- Paid training, both online and in-person
- Mileage reimbursement for all business miles

- You must live in the greater Detroit Metropolitan area
Excellent candidates will enjoy working with a diverse group of people. You will work a variable schedule, working a minimum of 25 hours per week with some weekday, evening and weekend shifts required. Interviewers will be trained to read survey questions exactly as written, follow all data collection protocols, including the collection of physical measurements and bio specimens, and to record data accurately using a laptop computer. Interviewers will be required to do cold calling which means you will visit households who may not be expecting your visit.
